Insights from Hexagram #33 天山遁 Tiān Shān Dùn – Retreat

Yi Jing Decoded

My Maiden Publication

I am more than excited. This book marks a deeply meaningful milestone for me. It has been a long and rewarding journey to arrive here, and I am truly excited to finally share my maiden work, Yi Jing Decoded, with you. I hope it offers clarity and a fresh way to engage with the wisdom of the Yi Jing.

What is the book about?

From Curiosity to Clarity

The Yi Jing, or Book of Changes, is an ancient guide that uses symbolic hexagrams to help us reflect, find clarity, and navigate life’s challenges.
Building on this timeless wisdom, this Yi Jing Decoded book presents a detailed exploration of the Yi Jing in a simplified manner. It traces the Yi Jing’s thousand-year evolution, explains its fundamental concepts and essential components, and most importantly, demonstrate how the Yi Jing can be applied in daily life.
Within the book, readers will find interpretations of all 64 hexagrams, along with the narrative about King Wen and Zhou Dynasty serving as a metaphor. The book also includes the mystical 384 Yao original texts in English. For centuries, these fundamental Yao texts have been difficult to understand, their meanings often lost over time and through translation, until now.

Voices from the Readers

This book by Dean Chua is the best Yi Jing resource I’ve found for someone who understands some Chinese but not enough to read it fluently. The use of pinyin is especially helpful, making it my most useful reference. My sense of the underlying philosophy of the classic is not so much the divination aspect but the idea of cycles within cycles. It highlights both cycles beyond our control and those within our influence, encouraging reflection and mindful action.
